God Is Able Prayer Band is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Massachusetts with strong ties to the people of Portland, Jamaica. When a hurricane strikes, its impact is immediate and devastating - homes destroyed, families displaced, lost of livelihood, and access to essentials disrupted overnight. Communities that were thriving one day can lose everything the next. Our commitment to hurricane Melissa relief ensures that survivors aren't left to face that crisis alone.

Communities need support beyond the headlines. While media coverage fades quickly, recovery can take months - years​. While Portland did not experience a direct hit, people with limited resources often suffer disproportionate damage and have the least funds. Our mission is to assist these families with children who have been affected, regardless of the parish they call home. Providing relief helps equity and dignity.

We are currently collecting essentials items that will support children's education and well-being. Children need more than safety, they need stability. By providing school bags, books, tablets, and basic classroom supplies, we help students return to learning as soon as possible. Returning to school restores a sense of normalcy, hope and emotional grounding during a traumatic time.

We desire to bring comfort when it's needed most. We plan to achieve this by providing comfort items such as clean clothing, towels, hygiene products, and toys to help families feel normal again. These items may boost morale and reduce stress, especially for children coping with loss.
